I Woke Up Next To You Again...

I Woke Up Next To You Again is a surreal "simulator" game about a one-night stand that turns into something more. There's multiple endings which that turn the traditional narrative on its head. If it feels good then can it really be so bad for you? Maybe it's better to let go…

  1. I like what people are thinking with the drugs. Like the “girl” symbolized a hangover after a long night of doing some hard drugs. “She keeps coming around again,” because your addiction keeps the drugs around. “I forget about all my friends and family,” as you slowly fall into your addiction. “When she isn’t around, I feel horrible,” without drugs, addicts feel immense psychological pain. “Why are you fighting instinct?” as addictions are acted upon by instinct. “I will keep fighting!” Fight your addiction and defeat it. And ever the friend helps a lot. Maybe she heard about his addiction, and she came to be with him and help him through his drug withdraw. “I feel more tired than normal,” which is how someone who has been through a drug withdraw will feel.

I definitely like this theory and I support it.

  2. Addiction or an illness like schizophrenia. Turning to the person was a back lapse or something and your real-life friend was there to help you stay strong which is why she looked like a monster when she said there was no one in the picture. Your brain saw her as a bad guy that was trying to keep you from what you craved. Or so I guess.

  3. Consuming relationship, where you get TO attached to someone, and when they leave all you feel is loneliness, but if you can get help you can move on

  4. Thank you so much Mark for making this! I had a lot of fun watching, but the faces at the beginning of the video where the best Lol

  5. I love this game.
I think the girl might be something that you manipulated inside your head and you’ve learned to fight it off.

  6. This reminds me a lot of Air Pressure from my Newgrounds days which had the “love interest” represent self-harm, always clinging to the protagonist’s arm

  7. It feels like this is a metaphor for drugs/addiction maybe? the character tells themself only one time but ends up addicted and pushing away his/her famly and friends away, or breaks the addiction and reconnects with a supportive friend. idk
