Inside The Switch Blade Screwdriver

Seems that whenever I use this screwdriver in a video I get asked what it is, so I figured we'd have a look together while I take apart the newer one to see what's wrong with it.
I bought the red one about 5 years ago and it has not worked well since day one, while the blue one has worked basically flawlessly for the 12 years I've owned it. Opening it up, I can't see any obvious differences and nothing I tried made the red one work correctly. At some point it's time to give up on a tool and this was it for the red Retractabit.

  2. Another Canadian taking tools apart. I like where this is going! Red one just aint skookum enough for the amount of Canadian pesos you have to throw at it!

  3. Have you tried lubricating the mechanisms? Take your blue one back apart and try spraying the parts down with spray graphite powder. It lasts longer and doesn’t leave it wet when it dries like silicone spray and wd-40 does.
